Drew Barrymore has become a meme for her unorthodox way of hosting her talk show. The host likes to get up close and personal—literally—with celebrities. While sitting down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the 48-year-old revealed why she loves physical contact with her guests.

During their chat, Fallon showed the audience a picture of Barrymore holding Brooke Shields while interviewing her on The Drew Barrymore Show. "You guys are basically like spooning, almost," joked Fallon.

"And we got much closer than that at certain points, too," responded Barrymore.

Fallon then showed a picture of Barrymore with The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey, where the host is kneeling, holding Bailey's hands inches from her face.

"There's this magnetic pull of, you know… my therapist would say like, 'You're not supposed to be attached to things.' But Barry, I'm so attached to this," she said, addressing her therapist while speaking about her love for interviewing guests.

She added: "I love doing this show so much. I get to learn from people every day. I get to have these incredible conversations that I definitely take something away with. It's always improving my life. It's profound. It's fun. We like to be silly. It's whiplash comedy because that's life, the heavier it gets, the more you want to laugh."

Fallon then talked about the memes of Barrymore's interviews, showing off some of his favorites. Barrymore reacted to being turned into a meme, saying, "At first I was like, 'Oh, is this a good thing? I can't tell' but then I was like, 'No, this is awesome!'"

She ended her chat with Fallon, turning the tables on him. For a moment, Barrymore acted like she was on her own show, putting her arms on the host's desk, asking him what his favorite thing about hosting The Tonight Show is. Fallon gave a simple yet touching response, saying he thinks it's "making the audience laugh."
