Dresses Inspired by Disney's "Fantasia"
Princesses, princesses, princesses! When it comes to Disney-inspired fashion, the creative buck usually starts and stops with the princesses. And the results, TBH, usually end up looking costume-y and more than a little played out. I mean, who really needs another person “reimagining” Belle’s yellow ball gown as a wedding dress? No. Definitely not.
London-based designer Mary Katrantzou’s Disney-inspired collection is different though - drawing on scenes from Disney’s Fantasia, Peter Pan, and Alice in Wonderland with nary a princess in sight. The results, rendered in crystals and beaded fringe on everything from evening gowns to houndstooth silk co-ords, are quite possibly the loveliest expressions of Disney nostalgia ever to walk the runway. Seriously, this stuff is stunning. Just check it out.
Now, if only the models wearing these gorgeous frocks didn’t look so freaking miserable. I mean, I know it’s fashion and the models are supposed to look somber, but how can you do anything but smile when you’ve got a sparkly pink centaur on your tummy? It’s not right, I tell you. It’s just not right!
