Dream Job Alert: London Brewery Looking for a Professional Beer Taster

We here at Travel + Leisure often highlight dream jobs from around the globe. Take, for example, the guy who quit his 9-to-5 to sail around the world instead, or the competition looking for someone to travel and stay in luxury hotels for a living, and even the gig that was looking for a gentlemen to test out bachelor parties anywhere on Earth.

Sure, these are all great jobs, but it’s the latest dream job listing that really caught our eye: Professional beer taster.

That’s right, a London-based brewing company is looking for a qualified professional beer taster to come in one day a week and sip on their concoctions.

“Have you ever dreamt of being paid to drink beer? Well, that could soon become a reality as we’re looking for beer lovers to earn a living, tasting new and innovative beers,” the job posting reads. “Yes, this could just be the best job in the world.”

The posting further explains that the gig is with Meantime Brewing Company, the brewery behind modern “beer staples London Lager, London Pale Ale and Yakima Red.” The gig, the company says, is a part-time staff position that is “key in helping Meantime perfect and launch new products around the world.”

So what will make you a successful candidate for the role? According to the post, the would-be taster will be able to “discuss and pass opinion on a range of different beers,” be a passionate beer lover who can “provide honest and objective feedback on different beer styles,” has superior taste buds that can detect anything off in the brew, along with expert knowledge of alcoholic beverages and the difference between beers and their ingredients.

The brewery is also hoping this person will be a “strong team player, who will be able to build relationships and work collaboratively with a team of other tasters and experts,” though we have a feeling that having a few pints with your workmates will make for an easy collaborative experience.

The role is just three hours a week on Friday mornings, according to the post, but that short time would undoubtedly be the highlight of every week.

To apply check out the brewery's Linkedin posting where you will be asked to write a 30-word post on about why you’re the perfect person for the gig. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #pickmemeantime.
