Happy birthday, Barbara Eden! The I Dream of Jeannie star turned 92 years old on August 23, and she opened up about her plans to celebrate the exciting day.
The actress told People that her plans include dinner at a Beverly Hills steakhouse with Jon Eicholtz, her husband of 32 years, and close friends. She will also be hosting family (and her Labradoodle Bentley) for a party at her house. Barbara skips birthday cake in favor of lemon meringue pie.
Barbara's official Instagram account shared a birthday message and she received an outpouring of comments from her fans, like "Happy Birthday to My Favorite Style Icon!!" and "you look amazing, beautiful as ever ❤️." You can see all of her latest outings from 2023 there (and she looks amazing).
What are Barbara's secrets to a long, healthy life? She credits a balanced diet of protein and vegetables. In a 2021 interview with Closer, she said, "I’m a carnivore … I like steak. We eat a lot of pork, chicken, steak [and] vegetables." Barbara explained that, while she maintains a healthy diet, she indulges her sweet tooth: "We don’t stint ourselves on desserts. I eat a lot. I like dessert. I like gumdrops. Those are fun." She stays active by walking and weight training.
As for her glowing skin, Barbara told Closer that she uses Estée Lauder Repair Serum ("I use that morning and night") and Cetaphil cleanser. She also doesn't go outside without sunscreen and only wears makeup when she's working.

Barbara told People that she sees her decades-long career as a "gift": "All through the years, I’ve noticed that many people don't realize what a joy it is and what a gift it is to be able to work in an arena that you really love. So many people have to work in jobs they hate, and they have to do it just for sustenance, but aren't we lucky when we can study for something, enjoy it and know that other people enjoy it? I think that's a gift that life gives us, if we are willing to work for it."
