It’s no secret that the self-described “certified lover boy” Drake is a huge fan of moping over his romances. Oh, and diamonds. And his latest piece of jewelry certainly speaks to that multiplicity.

Drake has created a tribute to all the times he’s considered proposing to exes—42 times, it seems—with a 42-diamond-studded chain. That’s a lot of times to consider putting a ring on it.

The rapper enlisted go-to celebrity jeweler Alex Moss to design the diamond necklace, dubbed the Previous Engagements chain. Moss debuted the piece on his Instagram, which is made from 42 engagement rings and 351.38 carats in diamonds and took 14 months to make. In a voice-over, he added that each stone is “for all the times he thought about it but never did.”

The video posted on Instagram this week gives us a nice close-up shot of all the hand-selected diamonds that “only suit perfection.” The voice-over also describes the necklace as a “monumental art piece.” A monument to the lovesick, some might say.

Over the years, Drake has been romantically linked with Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Serena Williams. So we know his good taste isn’t just in jewelry. And we love a self-aware hopeless romantic: He recently poked fun at his extensive dating history on a Saturday Night Live episode hosted by Keke Palmer. In a sketch called “The United Tingz of Aubrey,” he formed a union made up of all his exes.

The rapper has also never shied away from mentioning his exes and former flings in his music. In his feature on 21 Savage’s song “Mr. Right Now” with Metro Boomin, Drake revealed he dated R&B singer SZA in 2008.

In a recent interview with Audacy’s Check-In podcast, SZA (who clarified on Twitter that the pair actually dated in 2009) mentioned she and Drake have always been “cool.” Still, the singer then went on to jokingly compare Drake to Mean Girls’ Regina George by saying, “I feel like Drake has a Regina George quality to him where it’s just kind of like, ‘Have you or anyone you know been personally victimized?’ He’s like the cool kid, you know.” She also confirmed that her ex let her know about the new song before it dropped.

Aside from his romantic life, Drake solidified his love of bling—including a $1,898,000 diamond necklace from Frank Ocean’s luxury label Homer. Oh, and how could we forget the $400,000 diamond-encrusted iPhone case?

Can we hazard a guess at how many of those gems represent a tempting Rihanna proposal?
