When you enter the Checkpoint Rest Town and a young merchant asks you to find a rare orb for you in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you might think you’re in for a simple little adventure, but you’d be wrong. While Hunt for the Jadeite Orb is a relatively small quest, it is quite complex, with several different outcomes depending on how you play it.

We’ll explain everything that can happen in this quest and what the best route is to get you the most profit.

The Jadeite Orb is surprisingly easy to find, as it’s for sale in Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in Checkpoint Rest Town for just 7,500 gold. Ibrahim also offers another service of interest – the ability to create forgeries of items – but we’ll worry about that in a bit.

There are two candidates to give the orb to. The first is the poorer merchant who first gives you the quest, the second is Everard, the richer merchant who will chase you down to ask for it as well.

If you give the Jadeite Orb to the poorer merchant, he will give you 3,000 gold and and Elite Camping Kit in return.

If you give the Jadeite Orb to Everard, he will give you 12,000 gold and a Ring of Skullduggery in return.

This may make it seem like Everard is the best option, but let us not forget that Ibrahim can create forgeries of items.

For a bit of coin, you can commission Ibrahim to make a fake version of the orb, or two fakes if you prefer, letting you trick both men and keep the real orb for yourself. However, it’s not quite that easy.

When you present the orb, real or fake, to Everard, he will take it to Ibrahim to check whether or not it’s fake. If you want to get away with giving Everard a fake, you will need to bribe Ibrahim to lie on your behalf. When you combine the cost of the bribe with the cost of the forgery and the orb in the first place, you’re not making much of a profit.

That’s why, if you’re looking for pure profit above all else, we say the best course of action is to give the poorer merchant the forgery, and Everard the real Jadeite orb.
