Drag Queen Pattie Gonia Shares Her Eco-Friendly Nighttime Skin Care Routine

Pattie Gonia is a trailblazing drag queen, intersectional environmentalist, and photographer whose mission is to bring drag, diversity, and community to the great outdoors. In this episode of Go to Bed with Me, Pattie takes us to the backcountry, where she completes her minimalist skin care routine in a tent and reveals her top tips for making drag sustainable.

"You are in the backcountry with me, because, yes, I do drag, but I do drag in the outdoors," says Pattie. "And I do it as a means of advocating for our one true queen: Mother Nature."

Shop her entire routine below and read on for a breakdown.

When embarking on her multiday backpacking trip, Pattie makes sure to minimize her ecological footprint on the trails. "Everything I'm going to bring into the backcountry, I'm gonna pack out," she says. "We're gonna leave no trace. We're gonna leave it better than we found it." This means packing lighter and relying on multipurpose tools and highly effective skincare.

First things first, Pattie takes off her makeup by lathering on Pond's Cold Cream Makeup Remover and Cleanser, a tip passed on to her by her mom and grandma. "It gets all this makeup off extremely quickly," she says. Once the cream is applied, Pattie forgoes makeup wipes and, instead, uses a washcloth and some water for removal.

Next, Pattie applies a few drops of Busted Mug Rehab's Organic Face Serum, a nutrient-rich recipe (developed by her friend) that includes grapeseed, avocado, vitamin E, and lavender essential oils. She finishes her routine with CeraVe's Moisturizing Cream and a few dabs of Yay for Earth's Sensitive Skin Face Lotion.
