In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper decided to send her fans into the weekend on a high note with a close-up of an inner-ear blackhead extraction.=

In the video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—makes quick work of the clogged follicles, using her trusty comedone extractor to carefully extract the pus, which can frequently be mistaken for earwax but is typically a combination of dead skin cells and oil clogging the follicle.

Blackheads, of course, are an extremely common skin condition, which affect many people during hormonal changes such as puberty, according to Medical News Today. Other factors such as excessive sweating, or actions such as shaving that open up the pores, can play a role, too. When treating blackheads, it's best to resist the urge to pop them—in many cases, that will simply lead to inflammation and irritation.

It's better to wash your skin using a mild over-the-counter cleanser containing salicylic acid, Heidi Waldorf, M.D., a professor of dermatology at Icahn School of Medicine of Mount Sinai. told Men's Health. Or in extreme cases, doctors can also prescribe over the counter medications to help treat the problem. However, when blackheads are inconveniently located—such as this patient's inner-ear dilemma—you may need to see a dermatologist to have them treated professionally.
