Dr. Pimple Popper Squeezes 'Mashed Potatoes' from a Giant Cyst

From Men's Health

• In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper cuts into and drains a large cyst.
• She also cuts away the sac wall, which helps prevent the cyst from returning.
• Most of the time, cysts are benign and don't always need to be removed.

After spending Independence Day weekend celebrating some of her most memorable cyst pops to date, Dr. Pimple Popper returned to business on Monday with a classic extraction. In the new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—skips her usual helpful commentary in favor of a soaring orchestral backdrop, as she uses a pair of scissors to cut away the sac wall, then squeezes the seemingly never-ending innards out of what appears to be a large epidermoid cyst.

These types of cysts can form for all kinds of reasons, according to MedicalNewsToday, and thankfully they're almost always benign and harmless. Most often, the formation is due to a duct or a pore that's become clogged with oil or dead skin cells. In many cases, patients can safely leave them untreated, and they'll go away on their own, according to Harvard Health. In more rare cases in which a cyst suddenly grows in size or becomes burdensome to the patient, they're relatively easy for a dermatologist to treat during a brief in-patient procedure. While Dr. Pimple Popper always makes the squeezing seem tempting, however, it's rarely a good idea to try and pop a cyst on your own.
