You may wear a beanie as a fashion statement, but Reggie wears his knit hat even on a hot, sunny California day. That’s because Reggie uses the slouchy beanie to hide the bulging nodules on the back of his neck, masking them as the result of insecurity. But luckily, he may not need to wear the toasty cap much longer.

In an exclusive teaser video for the premiere of a new season of Dr. Pimple Popper on TLC, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—aka Dr. Pimple Popper—meets with Reggie to assess his concerns over the mystery growths. To do so and still stay safe in the COVID-19 era, Dr. Lee meets Reggie and his wife in a makeshift outdoor office, following COVID-19 safety guidelines. In the clip from the Dec. 28 episode of the series, Dr. Lee says she’s already had a video conference with Reggie. But she says that she hasn’t been able to properly assess the growths virtually, needing to poke and prod them in person before she even knows if she can actually remove them.consultation.

During his consultation, Reggie says he believes he once had some sort of “radiation treatment” on the masses, but is unsure what the doctor actually did during the procedure. Dr. Lee suspects it was some sort of steroid injection, as radiation treatments aren’t standard for this type of growth. But, either way, Reggie says he noticed more growth after the treatment—and has been hesitant to see a doctor since.

“It took a lot for me to get here. My wife’s been on me about having this [consult],” Reggie says. “I went to several doctors and I just didn’t trust the way they were telling me they were going to handle the situation.”

Unfortunately, the previous procedure wasn’t the only discouraging run-in Reggie has experienced with medical professionals.

“I had took him to this one doctor,” his wife tells Dr. Lee in the clip. “They made him feel like a guinea pig—and my husband just got up and walked out. He’s been broken for so long, and I never had the power to fix it myself.”

Luckily, Dr. Lee is a pro with a proven track record—and may have the answer to Reggie's mysterious condition.
