Dr. Pimple Popper Just Shared One of Her All-Time Greatest Blackhead Videos

Fans of Dr. Pimple Popper never seem to get tired of seeing a good old fashioned blackhead extraction, but on Tuesday, the doctor treated them to a throwback clip that she highlighted as one of her most memorable procedures of all-time. In the brief Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—delicately works on a large cluster of blackheads on a patient's nose using her signature comedone extractor tool. ("You have to tease them out in the beginning," she says, later adding that the patient is a "trooper" for sticking it out.)

While people often confuse blackheads for being trapped particles of dirt, however, they actually take on their unsightly appearance due to undergoing the process of oxidation due to being exposed to the air, as dermatologist Ken Howe, MD, previously told Men's Health. As Howe added, factors such as stress and hormones can also play a role in their formation, so the answer isn't always as simple as washing your face frequently. Still, good hygiene can't hurt, either. If you're looking for a good place to start, these products will help clear you up.
