Dr. Death Season 2 is a go!

The thriller, based on a true story (and a phenomenal podcast), is coming back to Peacock.

"The first season of Dr. Death blew us away as we dove into the terrifying, twisted mind of Dr. Christopher Duntsch and the team who set out to stop him," Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a statement. "The new installment of this highly-addictive anthology series explores a globe-trotting surgeon who seduces the medical world, and we know we’re in expert hands with our partners at Wondery, UCP, Patrick Macmanus and new season EP/showrunner Ashley Michel Hoban."

What will Season 2 of Dr. Death be about?

Dr. Death Season 2 will focus on an entirely new deadly doctor.

Italian surgeon Paolo Macchiarini is the subject of Season 2. Macchiarini, a thoracic surgeon nicknamed "Miracle Man," was famously secretive about his methods, which included unorthodox, experimental stem cell transplants. His scandal came to a head when his colleagues at the Karolinska Institute accused him of medical misconduct.

The series will focus on not only Macchiarini's relationship with his patients—and the law—but also on his romance with award-winning producer Benita Alexander.

Why was Dr. Death recast?

Jamie Dornan was originally slated to star as Dr. Christopher Duntsch in Dr. Death Season 1, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, leading Jackson to take over the role.

When does Dr. Death Season 2 come out?

No release date has yet been announced for Dr. Death Season 2. Filming wrapped in April 2023, however, so the series will likely drop in late 2023 or early 2024, depending on whether or not it's been impacted by the writers' and actors' strikes.
