'Downton Abbey' With American Accents is Absolutely Hysterical
One of the many reasons Americans love watching Downton Abbey is hearing the British accents.
So when the stars of the new film, Michelle Dockery (who plays Lady Mary), Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), and Allen Leech (Tom Branson), try their hand at describing the movie's plot, in just 30 seconds and in thick American accents, hilarity ensues.
"It's 1926, things have changed, but how much?" Leech says in the video above, which was taken at the cover shoot for Town & Country's October issue.
Then, Dockery gets in on the fun, explaining, "The royal family are visiting, and there are more diamonds then ever. Downton...Downtown—Downtown Abbey, da movie."
They didn't give away too much of the film's story line, which centers around the King and Queen's royal visit to Downton. But when asked about their own opinions, Dockery, Leech, and Carmichael revealed a bit more.
In a lightning round of questions, Dockery and Carmichael shared that they prefer the town and Leech prefers the country. And while Leech and Dockery would pick 1920s Britain over 2019 Britain (in part) Carmichael would still choose modern day, even though Brexit makes things a bit more complicated.
And surprisingly, all three picked Buckingham Palace over Highclere Castle, the real-life country estate, which serves as Downton Abbey on screen. Watch them answer even more tough questions in the video above.
