Dove Cameron and Thomas Doherty have called it quits after almost four years of dating. Even though they split in October, Dove made their breakup public via social media on Dec. 11. Rumors had been swirling for months and they decided to finally make the news official.

"Hi all. We know there have been some rumors and confusion lately about the status of our relationship and we wanted to set the record straight," Dove began on her Instagram Story. "In October, Thomas and I decided to part ways. The decision was incredibly difficult, but we still have love for each other, and will remain friends. Thank you for allowing us our privacy in this time."

She also posted a similar message on Twitter. Dove and Thomas began dating in December 2016 after starring in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Descendants 2. They also acted alongside each other in Descendants 3. In November 2019, Dove became emotional during an interview with Entertainment Tonight after she watched footage from a separate interview with Thomas.

In response, she became teary-eyed and said, “I cry, like, every day when I’m with him because...he’s just the most pure, loving, selfless, generous, kind [person]. His life is about the people that he loves and I feel so lucky to be loved by someone like that.” She ended the interview with this now heartbreaking line: “If I’m going to marry anyone, it’s going to be him.”
