Dove Cameron Says Her "Descendants" Costars Played a Prank on Her
The cast of Descendants 3 may have wrapped filming in July, but it's clear that their bond transcends that final "cut." From sharing heartfelt tributes for one another on social media to honoring their on-screen identities, it remains obvious that their friendship will last a lifetime — even through some pretty devious pranks on set.
Dove Cameron recently revealed that director Kenny Ortega orchestrated quite the elaborate prank to scare her during the first Descendants movie — and it totally worked. In conversation with Seventeen, Dove explained how the whole thing went down.
According to the actor, she was filming a scene that took place in the woods, and everything was super-quiet on set. "It was very intimate, there were like 10 people on crew that day," Dove described. "And nobody had been coming and going. It felt very still."
She went on to say that Kenny invited the entire cast to "rush" her as she was performing a serious ballad. "He had them run up behind me," Dove recalled. "In my survival, reptile brain, I thought it was a large animal. Because what else would be in the woods?! We had walled off the set, there was caution tape everywhere! I could hear something fast approaching, and it sounded really big."
So what happened to poor Dove? "I fell off the log," she said. "That was pretty embarrassing. And I think it's on camera somewhere."
Of course, Dove herself is no stranger to pranks. The Disney star revealed on Instagram that she and her dad used to prank people by ripping out fake piercings (um, ouch). As for this woodsy prank, it seems as though Dove's Descendants castmates (and director) did it all in good fun, as the love they have for one another feels truly everlasting. But hey, if it's on camera somewhere, here's hoping that it surfaces in a blooper reel someday.
