If you don't know Dove Cameron from her moody-pop anthems like "Boyfriend" and "Breakfast," then you probably recognize her from some of the movies and TV shows she's starred in over the years. The 27-year-old singer and actress has had roles in projects like Disney's Descendants and Apple TV+'s Schmigadoon!. Recently, she revealed she auditioned for the lead role of Glinda the Good Witch in Jon M. Chu's film adaptation of Wicked and opened up about the process.

In an interview with The Wrap at Schmigadoon!'s For Your Consideration event on April 14, Dove confirmed that she was up for the role, which was originated by her co-star and Broadway legend, Kristin Chenoweth. "I definitely went out for it. I know that for everybody who did go out for it, it was a very long process. It was one of the longer processes I've been a part of," she explained.

In 2019, rumors swirled about Dove's potential involvement in the project, and at the time, she told Entertainment Tonight that it would be a lifelong dream come true. "I don't think everyone wants me to be Glinda but, I mean, it's like the role of a lifetime," Dove said. "I've been dreaming of it since I was, like, 7. I mean, I should be so lucky to be considered."

ICYMI, Ariana Grande ended up becoming Glinda in the upcoming film adaptation alongside Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba, and Dove has nothing but well wishes for her "dear friend" and Hairspray Live! co-star.

"I'm so excited for Ariana. She's a genuinely dear friend of mine. We met when we were super young. I think she's gonna kill it," Dove told The Wrap of the "Positions" singer. "I think the whole cast is phenomenal head to toe. So, like, as a fan, I'm really, really excited to see it."
