Dove Cameron’s Newest Tattoo is a Tribute to Cameron Boyce

Dove Cameron just added some fresh new ink to her collection of body art and her newest piece has some very touching significance — it's in honor of her late friend and Descendants costar, Cameron Boyce, who died in July.

Vogue tagged along with Dove for 24 hours, which included rock climbing alongside the star. As part of her day, Dove hit tattoo parlor Ten Thousand Waves for her new design: a pistol with a rose coming out of the barrel inked on her forearm. "I am getting my 11th tattoo today. I really do get them so often that this really is a 'day in the life' for me," she said.

"I wanted to get a pistol or a revolver or some type of firearm but I want it to be a single rose or a little bouquet coming out of it," she explained. "I’m very anti-gun and very pro-gun regulation. [The rose is] a nationally recognized symbol for peace and for anti-gun movements.”

Dove’s new tattoo honors Cameron's work and the "Wielding Peace" campaign he was working on before he died. The project encourages people to "wield" their creative endeavors and hobbies instead of handguns and raises awareness about gun violence. "I've been trying to think of a tattoo to get for him since he passed, and I just felt that this one was really appropriate," Dove says in the video.

In November, Dove revealed the stories behind her many tattoos, including that her first one, the Capricorn symbol, was done when she was just 14. She's also got an X, the Gemini symbol, the words "Matière D’étoiles," some writing on her wrists, a snake, the phrase "Do It For Aphrodite," and the phrase "Candy is Dandy" in honor of her dad.

Clearly, tattoos are one of the ways Dove remembers important moments and people in her life, and we think her tattoo in honor of Cameron and his legacy is just beautiful — in both design and sentiment.
