Dove Cameron Almost Didn't Release Her Hit Song "Boyfriend" for This Reason

When Dove Cameron says suit up, we suit up. 🫡 The singer attended the History of The World Part II premiere in a braless black suit that kicked off her string of Suit Slays™️ (yes, we just made that up) and then ditched the edginess in favor of a flirty Barbie pink suit & corset combo for a Schmigadoon! photo call. Now, she’s giving all the ‘70s Daisy Jones & The Six energy in a camel brown suit.

Dove has been making her way around New York City (she recently moved there, BTW) while doing press for Schmigadoon! She was recently photographed on the streets of NYC wearing our newest obsession: an oversized BF blazer with baggy pants, and nothing but a bralette underneath. The "Boyfriend" singer wore high heels under her soft trousers to prevent them from pooling on the ground, and layered a matching longline on top with a dark brown bra peeking out from underneath.

She added a pop of color with green sunnies, and tied her dark hair back into a wavy ponytail with two face-framing strands left out in the front. Dove kept her makeup minimal by focusing on a warm wash of eyeshadow that matched her brown blazer and a soft pink lip.

Dove is currently working on her debut album following the smash hit success of her song "Boyfriend." The fire track hit the Billboard Hot 100 after it dropped in 2022, but Dove recently revealed to Jimmy Fallon that she almost didn't release the song.

“My voice was shot and the very next day [after ending a small black box theater tour], my label was like, ‘You have to start working on your album,'” Dove explained. “So we got into the studio immediately, and we wrote "Boyfriend' in two hours, and was like, "This is bad." I recorded it in 20 minutes and we just put it away. I didn’t really think anything of it, and then it turned out to be the thing that gave me a surprise second career.”
