A ‘Dorohedoro’ Second Season Anime Has Been Confirmed

As announced on Dorohedoro’s official website and social media, a sequel anime series is now in production.

It’s been four years since MAPPA released Dorohedoro, a dark fantasy anime adaptation based on Q Hayashida’s popular manga. With the anime studio being overloaded with demanding projects like Jujustu Kaisen, Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters, Chainsaw Man over the last few years, it’s no wonder it has taken this much time for a Dorohedoro sequel to be confirmed.

Set in a fictional, post-apocalyptic future world, the series tells a bizarre tale following an amnesiac, reptilian-headed man named Caiman, who is on a journey to recover his memories. Helping Caiman navigate the surreal and dangerously violent world is his friend, Nikaido, a skilled fighter and a dedicated owner who runs a Chinese-style joint, called Hungry Bug.

The first Dorohedoro anime premiered in Japan back in January 2020 with a 12-episode run. It then became exclusively available for fans overseas as Netflix shortly acquired its streaming rights in May 2020. Produced by MAPPA, the series boasted an unusual charm that was reflective of its highly-regarded source material.

At the time of writing, there is no further information regarding the release timeframe of the anime’s season two. Keep an eye out for more Dorohedoro updates via its official channels.
