DoorDash Glitch Allowed Users To Order All The Free And Drinks They Wanted
An unknown number of DoorDash users were met with an unexpected surprise Thursday when they noticed a glitch on the food-delivery app that allowed them to order free food, liquor, and other items.
Word of the glitch quickly made its way to social media. The term "DoorDash" become a trending topic on Twitter Thursday night, and was continuing to trend well into Friday. Some people expressed their disappointment at missing out on the free food, while others gleefully shared photos of their food and booze hauls. One user reportedly ordered $1,949.70 worth of Don Julio Reposado tequila for free.

DoorDash issued a statement acknowledging that there was in fact a payment-processing issue that was resolved. The company added that they are working to cancel fraudulent orders and properly compensate merchants.
“On the evening of July 7th DoorDash experienced a payment processing issue, and as a result, some users were able to check out without an authorized form of payment for a short period of time,” a DoorDash spokesperson told the New York Post. “We were subsequently notified that some users were placing fraudulent orders, and we immediately corrected the issue. We’re actively canceling fraudulent orders, and are in touch with merchants impacted to ensure they are compensated for any unauthorized orders they may have received."
DoorDash did not share any details on how it plans to take action, if any, against those who placed orders during the glitch.
The temporary DoorDash snafu came shortly after another food-service delivery app made headlines. Earlier this week, Grubhub announced a partnership with Amazon that will give Amazon Prime subscribers a free year of Grubhub+.
