Don't throw away your eclipse glasses. Recycle them and get a local perk in Evansville

EVANSVILLE — Tens of thousands in the Tri-State area have gotten eclipse glasses that will be used for about three minutes.

To make that investment even more worth it − if a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse wasn't enough − here's how to recycle them.

(Spoiler: There's even a way to get a free museum visit out of it.)

Evansville African American Museum

Return eclipse glasses to the Evansville African American Museum and get free admission to the museum in return.

This deal will last through the month of April at the museum at 579 Sondra Matthews Way in Evansville.

Check for drop-off bins wherever you're watching the eclipse

Look around wherever you're watching the eclipse and see if there is a drop-off box around for glasses. Place them there before heading home.

Viewing areas in Evansville, such as Haynie's Corner, will have them available.

Take them to Sixth and Zero

Sixth and Zero will be accepting eclipse glasses to recycle.

The business is located at 425 Main St. in Evansville.

What will be done with them after I drop them off?

The glasses will be donated to Astronomers Without Borders for use in other countries.
