Don't miss out!: Panama City Beach gears up to offer more than 70 youth summer camps

PANAMA CITY BEACH — For Erin Conley, summer camps are an important part of a community that help create lifelong memories for participants.

As recreation facilities supervisor for Panama City Beach, Conley said the city is gearing up to offer more than 70 summer camp programs from June 3 to Aug. 2. The camps will be available for both area residents and visitors ages 4-18.

"It's just great for the community," Conley said of summer camps. "We want our participants to come here and make memories for the summer so that when they go back to school, or they go back home, they have something cool to talk about.

"There's pretty much something for everyone."

According to the city's website, pcbfl.gov/summercamps, the summer camps cover a variety of topics "from fine arts to sports, aquatic and science adventures, and even gaming."

Conley noted they all have enrollment fees between about $25 and $450.

PCB's camps come on a first-serve basis, and registration already is underway. As of May 9 a handful of camps already were full. They are: Shoot for the Stars in June, Beginner Dive from June 3-6, LEGO in June, Sewing in June and July, Camp 911 and Lil' Sharks.

Those interested in any of the other camps can register either through the city's website or by visiting the Frank Brown Park Community Center Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The center is located at 16200 Panama City Beach Parkway (Back Beach Road).

"With such a wide range of camps, kids can explore new interests from arts and science, to sports and outdoor activities," Diane Nottage, recreation coordinator for PCB, said in newsletter posted on the city's website. "Summer camp is a fun way to keep kids engaged and learning throughout the summer. Camps also provide a chance for kids to meet new people and build social skills in a safe and supervised environment.

"Our goal at Parks and Recreation is to provide children with a fun and exciting summer filled with memories and new friends."
