You Don't Need Any Machines for This Home Cardio Workout

From Men's Health

Home workouts take imagination. You've done pushups, situps—maybe even a few planks, since you felt especially inspired. But have you been able to do anything to actually make you break a sweat?

For those of us without any dedicated cardio equipment at home, finding routines that will raise the heart rate can be more of a challenging proposition. Yes, it's doable—but jogging in place and ripping off round after round of jumping jacks feels more like an elementary school gym class than a grown-up workout. You'll probably need something a little more organized to feel satisfied with your sweat session.

Instead of regressing to your primary school self, give this routine from trainer Charlee Atkins, C.S.C.S. a shot. You don't need any gear, just your bodyweight, solid footing, and the energy to go beyond slow, strength-focused movements to get yourself moving.

Perform each exercise continuously for 45 seconds

  • Static Skiier

  • No-Jumping Jumping Jack

  • Standing Hip Circles

  • Jump Squat

  • Reverse Tap to Kick

Perform each of the movements for 45 seconds, then rest for 15 seconds before moving onto the next one. Don't take any extra rest between rounds. For a full 20-minute workout, take on 4 rounds of the series.
