It’s been years since Amy Carlson left Blue Bloods, but fans still aren’t over her shocking exit. As it turns out, neither is Donnie Wahlberg.

Donnie plays Danny Reagan on the hit show, and Amy was his on-screen wife Linda Reagan. Everyone was floored when Linda died in a helicopter crash—which was later revealed to not be an accident at all—and it’s been a long road since.

Though there’s been whispers that Danny might date again soon, he hasn’t officially moved on yet. Donnie tells CountryLiving.com that he hasn't quite gotten it over it, either. After all, with 7 seasons as a married couple under their belts, Donnie and Amy became real-life pals—and remain so today.

“I reach out to her and we stay in touch,” he says. “Trust me, Danny Reagan is still upset and Donnie Wahlberg misses her tremendously.”

He continued to praise her for how she helped parent their two fictional kids. “Obviously I was going to miss her as a friend and a co-star on the show, but I also missed the little things that she did. She would help the kids in the scene like their mom,” he says.

So, does he think Linda could ever return?

“I’ve missed her in so many ways and, you know, I don’t know how we could ever bring her back,” he says. “Maybe we do a dream episode where Danny dreams she’s back, I don’t know. We miss her, we all miss her on the show and she’s still a good friend, and I’m lucky to have worked with her.”

She did send out a cryptic tweet about her character last year, so maybe there is hope. After all, Ziva came back from the dead on NCIS!
