How Donna Kelce Put an End to Travis and Jason’s Physical Fights As Kids

Travis and Jason Kelce’s mother says the brothers were a lot to handle when they were kids, but there was one word she could always rely on to get them to stop fighting.
Donna Kelce says it’s quite simple, really. The word was: “Dad.”
With both of her sons now in the NFL, the football mom known affectionately among the brothers’ fans as “Mama Kelce” said during a recent interview that there came a point in time when she didn’t really have any options aside from calling their father, Ed Kelce, into action to break up a fight.
“Once they got to a certain size, I couldn’t do anything,” she told Today.
But the physical fighting did eventually stop. “Once they were the same height and the same weight, it was done,” she said, adding that by then, “it was equal, and they were going to hurt each other.”
Travis, 34, and Jason, 36, appear to be good friends these days. The brothers co-host a podcast called New Heights on which they discuss professional football and other shared interests.
Travis’ relationship with pop star Taylor Swift has been a frequent topic of conversation on the podcast over the last several months due to the attention it has brought the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
Jason’s rumored retirement is another topic that the brothers recently spent time discussing. In the podcast’s latest episode released on Wednesday, Jason, a center for the Philadelphia Eagles, addressed initial reports by the NFL that he’d announced his retirement following his team’s season-ending playoff game earlier this week.
Jason said on the podcast that he hadn’t made the announcement “on purpose” and didn’t think the timing was right for that particular decision. There was “too much emotion” and "too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision,” he said.
