How to donate books & art supplies to kids in Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. — The group, One Joplin is hosting a literacy resource drive during the month of May.

The hope is to collect more books to improve and enhance reading skills in kids both inside the home and at school. Last year, it brought in more than 6,000 books.

“It impacts their future learning potential, their education potential, their employment. So we want to start them out on the right foot to get books in those hands, book into those households, because access to books creates future education. It also creates curiosity,” said Nicole Brown, One Joplin Executive Director.

The nonprofit is accepting both new and gently used books as well as kids’ art supplies like crayons, stickers and scissors.
