On Wednesday, December 6th, Donald Trump gave a historic speech on the United States’ shifting policy towards Israel. But many couldn’t help but notice that Trump was slurring his words in an unusual way while addressing the audience. It left many to wonder: Is, um, everything okay?

“God bless the United Shtatesh,” the president concluded before stepping back from the podium.

Twitter quickly went to work as people tried to figure out/diagnose the source of the problem. Was it a stroke? Is his health failing him? Perhaps this was a result of taking a new medication? A White House spokesperson claimed the President was suffering from dry mouth during the speech. But others think it may have been caused by something else…something denture related.

CNN talked to speech and language pathologist Michael de Riesthal, who claimed that Trump’s slurring “seemed too unusual for something like that to be dry mouth.” De Riesthal was under the impression that loose dentures “or some other alternative explanation” were to blame.

De Risthal wasn’t alone in the loose denture camp. In fact, so many people thought dentures were the culprit that #DentureDonald is currently trending on Twitter. And — much like the president — these Twitter users did not hold back when posting their thoughts.

According to CNN, a White House official confirmed after Trump’s speech that, “The President is perfectly healthy; he’s been working in meetings all day and in fact is still here working now.”

Dentures or dry mouth? We’ll likely never know, but we’ll let you be the judge.
