Donald Trump says he got Melania some flowers and a card for her birthday, and nobody's impressed

Melania Trump is celebrating her 48th birthday — and boy, did Donald Trump have a Hallmark moment planned.

The president appeared on Fox & Friends Thursday morning, saying that the interview was in honor of his wife’s April 26 birthday.

If the first lady is holding out for a gesture that comes wrapped up in a pretty box, however, she’s apparently out of luck. According to Trump, “I didn’t get her so much.”

POTUS added that he gave his wife “a beautiful card … and some beautiful flowers.”

“You know, I’m very busy to be running out looking for presents,” he joked.

That may be true, but the collective response from viewers was: That’s it?

If Trump’s claim that he chose to do his Fox & Friends interview on the first lady’s birthday as a nod to her is true, it may not have been the best moment for him to admit for the first time that attorney Michael Cohen “represented” him in the Stormy Daniels matter. Trump and Cohen have been accused of paying the adult film star $130,000 to stay silent about her alleged affair with the then-Apprentice host. According to Daniels, Melania had just given birth to son Barron at the time of the relationship.

“Like with this crazy Stormy Daniels deal, he represented me and you know, from what I see, he did absolutely nothing wrong,” Trump said during the broadcast.
