Donald and Melania Trump's Latest Hand-Holding Incident Couldn’t Be More Awkward

Another day, another installment in the saga of First Lady Melania Trump and her efforts to avoid holding her husband's hand. To recap: On the eve of the inauguration, she was spotted briefly tolerating President-elect Donald Trump's hand before letting go. Then, on a tarmac in Israel in May, FLOTUS evaded the president's grasp with a swat heard round the world. One day later, while deplaning at the Vatican, Melania appeared to switch tactics to the old "pretend-you're-fixing-your-hair" trick. This left Donald with nothing to do but rest his hand on the small of her back.

Which brings us to the present day. In this week's episode of the ongoing saga, Melania showed us just how much PDA-thwarting skills can improve in the span of eight months. After experimenting with engaging President Trump's fingers via a bizarre handshake last year, Melania appears to have decided hand contact with her husband just isn't for her. Watch closely. You are about to see an artist at work.

At about six seconds into NBC's video, below, you can see Donald's hand begin its descent and swerve toward the bottom of Melania's right sleeve. But he is unsuccessful, grasping nothing but air. Melania, meanwhile, has not moved. Following this rejection, Donald then crosses to his wife's left. At this point, Melania reaches out a hand to fix her hair from inside her coat, revealing her right sleeve never contained her arm at all.

We've included a close-up of the complicated maneuver below. You have to admit, it's flawlessly executed.
