Dollywood Announces Flower and Food Festival for Spring 2020
It's always a good time to visit Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. But if you're thinking of heading to the theme park, spring 2020, may be a particularly great time for your travels.
The Smoky Mountains' theme park has announced the inaugural Flower & Food Festival, a five-week extravaganza from May 8th to June 14th, 2020. The festival will take place during the park's 35th anniversary year and marks the first new festival offering at Dollywood since 2006. As the festival's name implies, this festival will celebrate all things flowers and food, with beautful spring blooms and a delightful array of food options, focusing on the flavors and dishes of the Smokies.
“When I was just a little girl, spring was a wondrous time,” Parton said in a press release. “Everything came to life – flowers bloomed in the meadow near our house, and the Dogwood, red bud and fruit trees blossomed with the sweetest smells. I imagined having my own special field of flowers that were a fragrant home to my favorite animal friends in the woods. Now, my Dollywood becomes that special place with everything made of flowers – I can’t wait to share it with everyone just in time for our 35th season!” We can't wait to see it, dearest Smoky Mountain Songbird.
For the festival, Dollywood will team up with the Mosaicultures flower sculpting team, to create breathtaking 10-to-15-foot floral designs. Some will be in the shapes of Smoky Mountain turtles, frogs, black bears, and more animals. Beyond the animal kingdom, there will also be floral displays nodding their hats to "I Will Always Love You” with a floral heart umbrella and to “Coat of Many Colors” with a butterfly and a scene depicting Parton's mother sewing the priceless garment.
