Dolly Parton Will Read Your Kids Bedtime Stories and It's the Answer to Every Parents' Prayers
There's nothing quite like being lulled to sleep by a wonderful bedtime story. And if you need a break from the familiar voices of mom and dad, icon Dolly Parton is happy to put on her reading glasses and crack open one of her favorite children's books.
In addition to being an incredibly talented singer, writing iconic songs such as "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," and sharing her heart of gold with the world, Parton started The Imagination Library, which sends books free of charge to kids from birth to age 5 in an effort to encourage literacy. The program has given away over 100 million books since its inception, cementing Dolly as The Children's Book Queen. So it only makes sense that Parton should pick some favorites from The Imagination Library to read aloud.
The 10-week reading series dubbed "Goodnight with Dolly" will start on April 2nd at 7 p.m. EST. Some classic books on the docket include The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper, Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney, and Parton's own Coat of Many Colors.
