Dolly Parton Made a Christmas Musical With 12 Original Songs so Clear Your Decembers Now
Dolly Parton is coming out with a Christmas musical.
The movie, Christmas on the Square, will be reportedly released this winter on Netflix.
Christmas is coming really early this year, because we just found the best present ever and we can’t wait until December to tell you about it.
Dolly Parton has made a few holiday-themed films, including Christmas of Many Colors and Christmas at Dollywood. Turns out, the country legend has another one up her sleeve and it sounds just as magical as the others.
Actress Mary Lane Haskell spilled the details about Dolly’s upcoming project on the podcast “My Year With Dolly." Mary has worked on this movie with Dolly, as well as on Coat of Many Colors, Christmas of Many Colors, and Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings on Netflix, so she knew all the good info about what to expect.
“It’s not coming out until next Christmas, but it’s her musical that she’s done for Netflix,” she told “My Year With Dolly” creator Justin Kirkland. “It’s called Christmas on the Square and she has written 12 original songs. It’s really exciting.”
Twelve original songs?! It doesn’t get better than that.
The story follows Gina, whose father owned a small town. After he passes, she has to return to get things in order. “[She] has a lot of bad memories and sort of trauma related to the town, so she decides that she wants to sell it,” Mary said. “And three days before Christmas she starts handing out eviction notices."
Mary further described it as, “equal parts It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol” and we’re very into the idea.
Dolly, of course, plays an angel and we’re now officially counting down the days until it comes out.
