Five dollars can get you an almond-milk latte, but it also buys a yearlong membership to the Boys’ Club of New York—after-school music, sports, arts, and more programming for boys ages 7 to 21. And if we’re sticking to numbers, last night’s benefit gala earned over $1.1 million, which means over 220,000 memberships. Certainly something to celebrate, and celebrate we did.

Hosted by Dolce & Gabbana, the event drew in a bevy of beautifuls outfitted in Dolce. As guests exited the elevator at the Plaza Hotel to the Grand Ballroom, the scene looked something like the finale of a Dolce Alta Moda show. The evening’s cochairs wore it best; there was Tabitha Simmons Mortimer in a black lace dress and a gilt headpiece; the ever-lovely Lauren Santo Domingo wore an oversize-floral-print gown; Coco Brandolini D’Adda went with a zingy sequin number; and Kathryn Miller, Mary Kathryn Navab, Tatiana Perkin, and Betsy Pitts looked just as lovely.

Also in attendance were Tory Burch, Claiborne Swanson Frank, Valerie Boster, and Diggy Simmons. And elsewhere sat Dylan Sprouse, Emily Robinson, Emily Meade, Larsen Thompson and Marina Testino and Sofia Testino (all guests of Ferragamo), who took their seats beneath a circuit of rotating disco balls, at a table littered with miniature disco balls—the entire room glittered courtesy of event producer extraordinaire Raul Avila! But no one shone more than Saccora Kniesh, a proud mother to a 13-year-old boy who, Kniesh described, has come into his own thanks to the community provided by the Boys’ Club. “By being here tonight, you are investing in my son’s future,” she told the room, “and that means the world to me.”

"I have two boys so this is an event I hold dearly and also my husband's family holds dearly," said Simmons, who was the woman somewhat responsible for the glamorous evening. Simmons introduced Dolce & Gabbana to the Boy's Club after attending the event last year. "I thought the unison was really great and I was just happy to be involved," she said.

The rest of the night was spent on the dance floor (the invitation did specify it was a dance party, after all). Sprouse admitted the tunes spun by DJ Sam French inspired him to join in on the fun: “I didn’t think I would be dancing, but here I am!” And nearby a stylish trio of Simmons Mortimer, Brandolini D’Adda, and Santo Domingo formed a sort of dance floor. The latter, a longtime supporter of the Boys’ Club, joked that tonight she had her girls’ club present. Given the turnout and funds raised for the night, that feeling of support and togetherness resounded throughout the room.
