Doja Cat Loses Thousands of Fans After Calling Out Online Behavior

Doja Cat is learning that alienating fans comes at a cost.
According to Instagram followers tracker HypeAuditor (per The Daily Mail), the "Say So" singer lost over 400,000 followers over the past four weeks. This huge drop comes after the artist went on Threads and harshly responded to her fans.
On July 23, a fan page from Iran replied to one of Doja Cat's posts, writing, "I wanna hear you say (I do love you guys) As usual you say to your fans." The artist responded, "i don't though cuz I don't even know yall [sic]."
A different fan replied to the response, noting, "and we don't know you. but we have supported you through thick and thin, mind you you'd be NOTHING without us. you'd be working at a grocery store making sons on f---ing garage band miss high school drop out…"
The "Kiss Me More" singer retaliated, writing, "nobody forced you idk why you're talking to me like you're my mother bitch you sound like a crazy person."

Needless to say, it did not go well.
Fans voiced how upset they were over the musician's behavior, which caused Doja Cat to deactivate her Threads account. She also removed all tweets, with the exception of recent promotional ones about her upcoming album First Of All and her Scarlet Tour with Ice Spice and Doechii.
It was not the only social media interaction that upset fans as days before the contentious Threads statements, the "Boss Bitch" singer made a controversial remark on Threads, writing, "my fans don't name themselves s--t. if you call yourself a 'kitten' or f---ing 'kittenz' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house."
When a fan asked her, "what should i change my name to since you don't like the term kitten?" Doja Cat responded, "just delete the entire account and rethink everything it's never too late."
However, the singer was the one who had asked fans to vote between fan names "Kittens" and "Cubs" in a 2020 poll, so fans were confused as to why the term couldn't be used anymore.
Doja Cat also voiced her frustrations with fans last year in a series of now-deleted tweets after she was unable to perform the Asunción Festival in Paraguay due to weather issues. The musician tweeted, "I can’t wait to f---ing disappear and I don't need you to believe in me anymore. Everything is dead to me, music is dead, and i'm a f---ing fool for ever thinking I was made for this this is a f---ing nightmare unfollow me."
