Last night, celebrities gathered in New York City for the 2023 Met Gala honoring Karl Lagerfeld. Now that the red-carpet festivities have concluded, there’s only one remaining question on our mind: Who had the best feline fashion?

The theme for this year’s event was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” While every celebrity interpreted it in a different way, there were two stars—Doja Cat and Jared Leto—who chose to honor Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, Choupette.

Doja Cat wore an outfit that resembled a cat Halloween costume, featuring a white feather dress and a hood with ears. (The ensemble was designed by Oscar de la Renta, and the prosthetics were done by Malina Stearns.)

On the other hand, Leto wore a mascot costume that’s so realistic, it looks like something you’d see at Disney World. Many celebs couldn’t tell who was inside the feline outfit—until Leto removed the head to reveal himself.

So, who wore it best? Leto’s Choupette costume will probably go down in history like Lady Gaga’s egg at the Grammys. While Doja Cat’s ensemble was less dramatic, it took way more work to pull off. And for that reason, it takes the cake in our book.

It’s important to note that Leto and Doja Cat weren’t the only celebrities who honored Choupette. A few stars—like Chloe Fineman and Janelle Monáe—rocked cat-themed accessories, but they were much less noticeable than Leto’s get-up.

What a purr-fect tribute. (Sorry, had to.)
