Dogwood Trailblazers to hold two walks on April 27
Apr. 20—Walks in Joplin and Carterville will be held Saturday, April 27, by the Dogwood Trailblazers Walking Club.
The Carterville walk will start with registration at 8:30 a.m. that morning at the Carterville Community Center, 209 E. Hall St. The route of the walk will focus on much of the mining history of the town and the Veterans Memorial in the city's cemetery.
The Joplin walk will start with registration at 11 a.m. that day at the Joplin Coffee Co., 506 S. Joplin Ave. It will focus on the historic Murphysburg residential area and the original Joplin, which is now the East Town neighborhood.
Walk distances will be a choice of 10k, or 6.2 miles; and 5K, or 3.1 miles.
The walking club is observing its 31st year in the Joplin area and is open to new walkers.
