Dog's Love Over Horse Friend 'Cleaning' Him Is Too Cute to Resist

Unlikely animal friends are one of the few phenomena that are universally loved. It's impossible not to love a zoo cheetah and their canine BFF (I've seen that with my own eyes!), or Koko the gorilla and her cat friends. Even if most of us don't understand everything about animal psychology, just about everyone can appreciate the acceptance and love in interspecies friendships.

Some of the sweetest interactions between animals of different species happen between dogs and horses. Both creatures can be found on ranches or farms, and both are known for their social and friendly natures. So when you put these animals together in the right environment, you're bound to witness the blossoming of a beautiful friendship.

Don't believe us? Just look at how quickly this Standard Poodle pup and their new horse friend went from curious acquaintances to confident buddies!

How sweet! This gorgeous pinto horse was interested in getting closer to the pup from the get-go, but they were polite enough to let the curly-coated dog set the pace of their interaction. If only people could take notes! Letting a hesitant dog take the lead in a meeting can help that dog feel in control, but a little encouragement can also give them the push they need to make a new friend.

I'd think it's safe to say that the two in this video are well on their way to being friends! The big dog felt comfortable enough to let the horse groom him, and it's the sweetest thing. In horses, grooming behaviors can be a sign of trust and affection, though there's no way to prove that the pup hadn't gotten into something yummy either. Whether the horse is trying to get a snack or a friend, though, the simple action of licking is bringing the new pals closer.

The brown and white horse made so much progress with the Poodle in just one short video, so I can only imagine how much things will change in the long-run!
