Dog Suffers the Ultimate Consequences After Scoffing Down Corn From the Kitchen Table

Dogs are hilariously careless with themselves. It doesn't matter how many times you tell them to stay away from garbage on the ground during walks, they're definitely going to eat that trash. Well one Dachshund on the internet learned her lesson the hard way. After she tried to sneak some corn behind her mama's back and ended up with the worst allergic reaction.

Little Sordorlini (or Sodda) really got herself in a pickle, as a video on her mom's TikTok page shows.

Poor thing. We'd like to think she won't do it again, but knowing dogs...well, that just doesn't seem to be the case.

In the footage, Sodda can be seen lying on her mama's bed with hives all over her face.

"When your puppy got on top of the kitchen table, stole corn, had an allergic reaction, and now you're on your way to the after-hours vet because it's a Saturday," the dog's owner, @racheltuesday_ wrote in the onscreen caption.

In a second clip in the video, one can see that the hives have traveled all across the Dachshund's body.

"Sis really scoffed that corn," her mom joked in the caption.

Commenters were worried. "I swear dogs are like toddlers they never grow up," wrote one woman. "Omg I’ve never seen what an allergic reaction looks like on a dog. Poor baby," someone else chimed in. "Ate corn to look like corn. I’m glad wee baby is alright!" another commenter teased

Can Dogs Have Allergies?

Because we tend to feed dogs the same food for all their meals, we might not think about them getting allergic reactions. But just like humans, they do!

Food allergies or hypersensitivities can develop for dogs with any protein or carbohydrate component of food. Most commonly, dogs will be allergic to beef, chicken, lamb, eggs, dairy products, and soy. Although that doesn't mean that corn isn't a possibility.

Dogs can develop food allergies at any point in their life, and may show signs of their allergies through itching, digestive disorders, and respiratory distress.

Thankfully, there is happy news for this dog. As her mama shared in an update video.

The vet recommended the dog take some Benadryl and her mama gave her a cold bath. The medicine knocked the poor pup out, so her mama ultimately switched her to another medication which seemed to be a little bit more gentle on her.

Her mom also gave an update on how the pooch was feeling. Luckily it seems like they've gotten the allergic reaction under control.

"She's back to her usual antics and doing great," her mom said.
