Dog Rescued By Emergency Officials After Getting Tired on a Hike

Wow, literally me.

Have you ever gone for a really long hike — maybe up a mountain or while camping — and thought: "Wow, can someone come and rescue me so I don't have to walk down?" If so, you'll probably relate to this fluffy dog named Kato who just needed a little assistance after getting tired on an adventure.

As noted by BuzzFeed, Kato, a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees, had to be carried down a mountain pathway on the Maxwell Falls trail in Evergreen, Colorado after he was "exhausted and most likely dehydrated." According to local news station and NBC affiliate KUSA, Kato's owners reached out to the Evergreen Fire Rescue after the 120-pound dog couldn't finish the hike on his own.

The rescue team told KUSA that they weren't surprised to get the call, as the trail can be steep and it's "a rigorous workout." Emergency officials noted that it wasn't the first time the volunteer-based crew had to assist a furry friend on the mountain trail, adding: "We choose to help animals. Doesn't matter if a it's a horse stuck in the mud, owls that fall out of the nest ... this is something that the community supports."

When Evergreen Fire Rescue posted photos of Kato's adventure on Twitter, other people were quick to respond to the heartwarming tale. Some social media users were overwhelmed by the fluffy dog's cuteness. "I’d walk all the miles to save him," one person wrote. Other people were impressed by Kato's "diva" nature. As one Twitter user put it: "Omg Kato, you do you, honey. You let them humans work for you."

But mostly, people just found the whole story pretty relatable, writing: "This dog is me." Truthfully? So much same.
