Dog’s Fitting Reaction to Going Outside in -40 Weather Is Totally On-Point

With most of the U.S. experiencing colder than normal temperatures, it's no surprise we are all complaining about the cold. Here in Georgia, normal high temps are around 40-50 degrees, but it was a high of about 15 earlier this week and 20-something yesterday. But that's nothing compared to the -40 degrees that TonyNick is experiencing up in Canada right now, and his dog is not a fan!

Tony shared a video on Saturday, January 13th and it immediately went viral with nearly 30 million views. The clip is short - about 30 seconds - and shows Tony opening up the door to let his dog to go out to the bathroom in -40 degree temps. When the door opened, you can see steam and cold coming into the house as the dog backs up. The dog's next reaction is absolute perfection!

The dog was like, "Nope, never mind!" He was not going to go out there! When @Tony started laughing, so did I! I would've had the exact same reaction if someone tried to me go outside when it was that cold! Commenters had some really funny reactions to the viral video and left more than 31 thousand comments. @David Adan689 got almost 300 thousand likes for his comment, ""What do you think I am, a Husky?!" @Alfonso 911 made me laugh with, "Bro said, "Nah homie I'm alright"!" as did @giasharry who added, "HE SAID, SHOW ME HOW TO USE THE TOILET PLEASE LOL!!!" But his dog actually does go out into the snow when he wants; Tony also shared a video of them going for a walk in that same weather...no thank you!

What to Do When It's Too Cold to Potty Outside

Hey, we all get it! I don't even think it would be physically possible for me to go to the bathroom outside if it was that cold! So how do people in extreme cold get their animals to go to the bathroom outside? There are a few tips to help. Go outside with your pet! Yep, it's cold out, so showing them that you're willing to go out with them just might do the trick. You can try to get them booties for their paws, but not all dogs like or will wear them. You can get them winter attire to help keep them warm. You can find a spot outside and shovel the snow away from it so your pet can see the ground. You can try to get them to use wee wee pads indoors, though not all dogs will go on them...especially if going inside is always a no-no.

And lastly, reward them for their efforts, very generously. Let them know that you are proud of them and that they did the right thing. For most pets, you can get then to do anything for extra treats!
