Dog’s Confusion Over Thinking Mom ‘Waxed the Floor’ Is Priceless

Dogs have an incredible sense of smell, and they often associate scents with certain experiences or events, even bad ones.

TikToker @sassysari01 captured such a moment of distress and confusion on video, posted on November 25 about her dog complaining about the floors being waxed, which they weren't. Let's take a look!

This is too funny!

It was just a lemon-scented candle!

So it's unsurprising that he thinks the wooden floors are waxed due to the lemon scent.

Since dogs often rely on a combination of sight, smell, and even sound to make sense of their environment, when there's a mismatch between what they see and what they smell, it can result in confusion.

You could say he has a bit of a fit here, and his cry even sounds as if he were saying, "Nooo!"

Many dogs are sensitive to changes in the texture or slipperiness of surfaces. Waxed or freshly polished floors can be quite slippery, and some dogs may find it challenging or uncomfortable to navigate on such surfaces.

He's traumatized.

If a dog has had a negative or uncomfortable experience on a freshly waxed floor, they may remember the sensation and develop a reluctance or fear of similar surfaces in the future.

This reaction could be more pronounced if the slipperiness led to a loss of balance or a feeling of instability, making the dog associate waxed floors with an unpleasant or unsafe situation.

His reaction is completely valid, and it makes sense he'd complain about this. Also, to be fair, they do look a bit shiny.
