You might remember from science class that the Moon takes about 28 days to orbit the Earth. In astrology, that orbit includes all 12 zodiac signs—meaning that the Moon switches signs about every two to two and a half days. And yes, of course we feel those ~vibes~ here on Earth. Basically, you might pick up a sort of emotional current that subtly guides you. Think of it as: What mood is the world in today? Feeling hotheaded? Moon’s probably in Aries. Impulsive? It might be in Sagittarius. Sexy? Take a look; it's in Scorpio.

When the Moon’s in your Sun sign—which again, happens about once a month and lasts for two and a half days—you’ll be feeling more ~at one~ with yourself. Expressing yourself should come easily, your intuition will be stronger, you'll be feeling confident, and people might be paying more attention to you. (They can just tell that you’re glowing with moonlight.) This is a good time to form agreements, make promises, resolve issues, and assess your plans for the month ahead. You’ll likely sense that things are going well at home and in work, too. Soak up those moonbeams, bb!

Along with a Sun sign—that’s the one decided by the date you were born, the one you say when people ask “What’s your sign?”—you also have a Moon sign, decided by where the Moon was in the sky when you were born. When the Moon returns to position—or even just the sign—it was in at your birth, this is called the Lunar Return, and it happens about once a month. Your emotions and intuition will be heightened, and you might feel a lil bit moody. During this time, you don’t want to start new projects—instead, focus on your relationships and life at home. You’ll want to feel comfy and stick to your usual patterns. However, if you’re feeling irritable, consider taking some time to assess what’s causing you distress so you can make changes later on.

Here’s what it means when the Moon’s in each sign.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN ARIES

Your energy is at an all-time high. You’re feeling passionate, brave, focused, and ready to act. This is a good time for physical activity, starting new projects, or striking out on your own. But beware of impulsivity, getting into fights, or starting something that you won’t be able to finish.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN TAURUS

Taurus is one of the Moon’s favorite zodiac signs to be in. During this time, you’re all about peace, serenity, relaxation, and sensuality. Being comfortable is your top priority! Now’s a good time to assess your financial goals, start a long-term project, begin a relationship with serious potential, create art or music, or get ~romantic~ with your boo. Watch out for stubbornness, laziness, and a reluctance to let go.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN GEMINI

You’re feeling super-social and curious about everything. You have lots of ideas and are eager to chat, communicate, or learn. Now’s a good time to read, write, talk, and research… or at least do a lil social media investigation. Just try not to gossip too much, mmkay?

WHEN THE MOON IS IN CANCER

Now’s a time for peace, quiet, and safety. The Moon in Cancer has ~healing potential~. Your emotions and sensitivity run deep, so connect with family, spruce up your home, or just chill. Be careful, though—you might feel over-dependent on others or catch yourself acting defensive.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN LEO

You’re feeling fired up and dramatic—everything is extra. Basically, you absolutely need the spotlight. Now’s the time to schedule a date, do a little self-promotion, or head to a party. Beware of overspending, overindulging, or neglecting your friendships in your pursuit of IG likes.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN VIRGO

Expect to focus on the details of your life—particularly your work life—and your day-to-day routine. You’re ready to organize, create plans, and solve problems. Now’s the time to clean up your GCal, tackle important projects at work, and embrace your intellectual side. Resist the urge to micromanage people and try to keep your criticism constructive.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN LIBRA

Libra is all about balance, and no matter your Sun sign, right now you’re ~seeing both sides~. You’re basically a diplomat—plus, you’re feeling romantic AF. Focus on connecting with your boo and BFFs. Everything related to beauty and harmony is heightened rn, so go ahead and try a new lewk for your date night or friend hang. Watch out for being indecisive or people-pleasing—remember, you can be fair and kind without being a pushover.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN SCORPIO

Feeling intense and passionate? Of course you are! Your emotions are super deep rn. Reflect on your fears and habits and release what’s holding you back, bb. Try not to take everything personally and keep in mind that your suspicions might not be based in reality. BTW, this can be a ~hot~ time in the bedroom, too.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN SAGITTARIUS

You’re feeling energized, optimistic, and impulsive—you’ll want to go after your ideas without thinking twice. Now’s the time to travel (when that's OK to do again), learn something new, or try an adventurous activity that’s a lil bit out of your comfort zone. Know that you might be feeling a little irrational right now, so make sure you get all the facts before making any big decisions

WHEN THE MOON IS IN CAPRICORN

This is a time that’s all about *Rihanna voice* work, work, work, work, work. You’ll be chasing your career goals and feeling super-resourceful. Make big plans at the office, tackle a tough project, or plot your climb up the career ladder. Make sure you leave room for flexibility, though, because those Cap vibes have you feeling rigid AF.

WHEN THE MOON IS IN AQUARIUS

It’s time to shake it up! This is a FAB time to try unusual experiences, brainstorm ideas for your future, and talk with your friends. Everyone will be more focused on the intellectual side of things, rather than just the emotional. It's all about collaboration, teamwork, and digital technology—so go ahead, download (or build!) that app. Just try to hear others out instead of believing you’re always right. (Even though you might be.)

WHEN THE MOON IS IN PISCES

When the Moon’s in Pisces, it’s all about ~fantasy~. You’re feeling creative, dreamy, and maybe a bit out of touch with the world. Dive into an art project and listen to your intuition. Schedule some alone time for self-reflection and healing, or just a restorative nap (your dreams will probs be amazing). Watch out for getting too caught up in your own world, though—we all need some solitude, but don’t shut your friends out.
