Variety has dropped the exclusive that a behind-the-scenes documentary about the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special will be released on digital and Blu-Ray on December 5.

With appearances from Bruce Vilanch, Kevin Smith, 'Weird Al' Yankovic, Mick Garris, Donny Osmond, Jason Lenzi, Seth Green and more, A Disturbance in the Force charts the story behind The Star Wars Holiday Special, a show often cited as one of the worst forms of entertainment of all time.

The special screened in 1978 after George Lucas was persuaded to take advantage of Star Wars' 1977 success. 13 million people tuned in, but it was such a disaster that it was never seen again, nor discussed... until now.

A Disturbance in the Force premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in March and currently sits at a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating from 27 reviews. Critics described it as "a comprehensive and hilarious document that's a must see for all Star Wars fans".

It will also play in select theaters in the US, UK and Australia from November 17.
