Initially announced back in April, the posthumous release is set to hit theaters nationwide July 16 before heading to streaming on HBO Max and CNN. As a refresher, the new documentary—which has been called an "act of therapy" in early reviews—will give an intimate look into the “uncommon life of the late storyteller, explorer, and chef, Anthony Bourdain" with footage of both Anthony himself and some of food industry professionals discussing their experiences with him.

Guaranteed to be a top contender for every 2022 award show, this documentary will be an emotional one. Before it hits theaters tomorrow, though, you can watch the full trailer now.

Update, June 16, 2021: The official trailer for the documentary ROADRUNNER: A Film About Anthony Bourdain was released earlier this month and featured clips of the renowned food and travel expert and interviews with those closest to him. The documentary debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival and will hit theaters next month before becoming available for streaming.

Early reviews of the documentary are calling it an "act of therapy" and mention how well the film includes footage of Anthony himself woven in between interviews of other food industry professionals. Following the festival debut, ROADRUNNER will be released in theaters on July 16. After its theater run, fans will have the chance to stream it in full on HBO Max and CNN. Until then, check out theaters near you next month to see where you can marvel at the life and legacy of Anthony Bourdain.

Original Post, April 27, 2021: It's been almost three years since the world lost iconic chef Anthony Bourdain, but his impact on the food and travel world is far from forgotten. Though fans of the late journalist and author may still be digesting his recent and final posthumous book, World Travel: An Irreverent Guide (which hit shelves earlier this month), if you're still left yearning for more, you'll want to tune into a new documentary being released this summer.

Titled Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain, the documentary is being helmed by Academy Award-winning director-producer Morgan Neville and is scheduled to debut on June 11 at the Tribeca Film Festival. The new documentary will then see its theatrical release on July 16. After the initial theater run is over, however, fans will be able to stream the release in full on both HBO Max and CNN.

According to a release about the CNN Films and HBO Max executive-produced film, Roadrunner will see Neville give fans a peek into the “uncommon life of the late storyteller, explorer, and chef, Anthony Bourdain." And if Neville's previous success with biographical films like 20 Feet from Stardom and the 2018 Mr. Rogers documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? are anything to go by, it can only be assumed that this will also produce nothing but rounds of applause at every theater it's shown in.

Bourdain, who became widely famous in 2000 after the release of his book Kitchen Confidential and hosted the popular CNN culinary travel guide series "Parts Unknown," died in June 2018 at the age of 61.
