It’s no secret that we LOVE Halloween. And apparently, this obstetrician does too. Meet the doctor who delivered a baby on Halloween dressed as The Joker. (In case you’re wondering, he dressed up as Heath Ledger’s Joker, not Jared Leto’s Joker.)

According to People, the obstetrician, Dr. Paul Locus, had a plan. He was going to go home for a while to pass out Halloween candy, then get out of costume before coming back to deliver the baby. But the super cool parents, Brittany and Justin Selph, insisted that he stay dressed up. After all, they knew Dr. Locus well by this point, since he’d been with them for their entire pregnancy. Plus, since the couple already had two children, they weren’t nervous about what to expect in the delivery room. So why NOT have The Joker deliver Baby #3, right? We’re with them, and couldn’t love this more.

The Batman birth, so to speak, took place at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tennessee. “My wife’s due date was Nov. 5, but that obviously didn’t happen,” Justin Selph told People. “She woke up Halloween morning to her water leaking.” So the couple went to see Dr. Locus. “That’s when we found out he was dressed for Halloween that day, as The Joker,” Selph continued. “We found it very humorous and a little excited [sic] that we would have a baby delivered by The Joker.”

How did Dr. Locus compare to Ledger’s movie version of The Joker? See for yourself!

So impressive. And the delivery was a success!

“There my wife is, staring the Joker straight in the eyes while delivering our baby, what a sight!” Selph told People. “I was holding her leg up, and snapping pictures! I was going to go Facebook Live, but the nurse cut me off!”

Of course, if The Joker delivers your baby, you need to document it. Here’s Selph posing with him.

Here’s mom and baby Oaklyn, too. Awwww.

Dr. Locus was even on board with the whole Joker thing the next day.

“The next morning, he came in to check on Brittany, and he said ‘Sorry I couldn’t make it in last night, glad to see the delivery went well,’ Joking of course,” Selph said. “He also gave her a card of congratulations, and he signed it ‘Dr. Joker.’”

And just think, when Oaklyn’s old enough, she’ll have the best story ever. No doubt, it’s a Halloween that the Selph Family and Dr. Locus will never forget. Neither will we!
