DMV Dating: Navigating the apps

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Are you struggling to find love on a dating app?

DMV-based relationship coach Tisia Saffold joined DC News Now Friday morning to offer tips on how to find love through your phone screen.

Saffold noted that some apps might better align with people who are looking for something serious rather than others – and it’s important to know which one works best for what you’re looking for.

“Bumble is an app where the woman has to reach out, so some women have an issue with that if you’re looking for more chivalry or courtship; but the thing is you get to weed out just the noise and incoming traffic that you may not want,” she said.

Saffold added, “And then you have more matchmaking services like E-Harmony or Bumble or Match.com, and I think those are geared more towards pairing you with a partner with the same ethics, morals, values versus you just going through all the fish in the sea.”

After connecting with someone, Saffold believes planning to have a first date should happen “within the first week.”

She said that it’s in the first week that people who are looking for a partner should be “getting to know each other – talking, texting…moving offline.”
