DKNY Bypasses Fashion Show, Will Have Showroom Appointments
DKNY’S PLAN: DKNY, a fixture on the New York fashion show schedule, is sitting out the next round. The show had been slated for Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. Instead, the company intends to host appointments in its showroom.
According to the Council of Fashion Designers of America, that time slot hasn’t been filled, but Derek Lam plans to start his presentation a half hour earlier, at 2:30 p.m.
As reported, G-III Apparel Group Ltd. completed its deal to acquire Donna Karan International last month for $650 million. At the time it was disclosed that DKNY co-creative directors Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne would be exiting the company by the end of December, along with Caroline Brown, chief executive officer of DKI.
Morris Goldfarb, chairman and ceo of G-III, was unavailable for comment on who is designing DKNY going forward.
