DJ DEMP gets proclamation for his community contributions from Leon County

Celebrity DJ and philanthropist DJ DEMP was presented with a proclamation from the Leon County Commission for his contribution to the community on Tuesday. The proclamation, presented by Commissioner Rick Minor, declares Feb. 20, "DJ DEMP DAY."

This is DJ DEMP’s fourth proclamation, having received three prior awards from the City of Tallahassee.

DJ DEMP is a member of the group Ghostown DJs, most known for their classic hit record, "My Boo." For almost three decades, DJ DEMP has utilized his DEMP WEEK birthday celebration platform to champion social causes and raise awareness in the community.

DJ DEMP is the CEO and Founder of the DJ DEMP Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Leon County focused on transforming and empowering at-risk youth through education and advocacy. DJ DEMP is also the Co-founder of DEMP HOUSE, a transitional living home for men in recovery.

“The Leon County Commission is grateful for DJ DEMP’s outstanding leadership and his dedication to elevating our community. He has a big heart for Tallahassee, using his talent and stature within the music industry to attract Grammy award-winning artists and other national celebrities to DEMP WEEK, one of the region’s landmark annual cultural events,” Commissioner Rick Minor said in a press release.
