Give Your Feet Some Extra Love With a DIY Salt Scrub

Our feet are one of the last places we tend to pamper. (Unless we're treating ourselves to a pedicure.) Usually, we're staring at our face, so it makes sense to want a top-notch skincare routine. However, you should be paying attention to your entire body, and yes, that includes your feet. Whether you usually wear high heels, loafers, sneakers, or even super comfy slippers, your feet could probably use some extra care. Salon treatments can cost around $50 or more, and most of us are staying at home anyway, so you need an easy, affordable option you can do yourself. This scrub features salts and essential oils to slough off the outer layer and reveal smoother skin. "These salts draw out the impurities, replenish nutrients, and relax muscles while they remove dead skin, and open your pores so that you absorb the essential oils deeper into the layers of your dermis," says Hope Gillerman, author of Essential Oils Every Day ($18, Target), and founder of H. Gillerman Organics. Here's a scrub to make your feel baby-soft.

DIY Salt Food Scrub

Not only is this scrub super affordable, but it can also be customized with your favorite essential oil and whatever you have at home.

What You Need:

How to Make it:

Put your salt in a ceramic bowl. Using a whisk, stir in your favorite relaxing essential oil until it is thoroughly blended. Add 1/2 cup of the salt scrub to a drawn bath, and swish with your hands to dissolve. Soak your feet for 5-15 minutes, then use the salt to scrub calluses on your feet. "This is the absolute best ritual to do before bed if you have trouble sleeping or unwinding after a particularly challenging day," Gillerman notes.
