Disqualified 'Voice' Star Ryan Gallagher Speaks Out on Instagram After Carter Rubin’s Win

• NBC maintains that Ryan was asked to leave The Voice in late November after violating COVID-19 safety protocols. Ryan and his manager, Michael Catalano, however, deny this explanation and promise to share more details in the future.

On Tuesday night, The Voice crowned Carter Rubin of Gwen Stefani's team as the season 19 champion, making him the youngest male contestant to ever win the show. Among the many fans and fellow contestants congratulating Carter on his remarkable achievement was Ryan Gallagher, who mysteriously exited the competition after the knockout round.

Soon after Carter was announced as the winner, Ryan shared a black and white photo of Carter celebrating his victory to his Instagram Stories. He accompanied the picture with the hashtag "#champ."

When Carter posted the same photo to his own Instagram page, Ryan also congratulated him once more in the comments section: "Congrats little bro! Enjoy it! You worked so hard for this. Always remember... YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!🖤"

Earlier in the evening, Ryan posted a video to his Stories explaining to fans why he hasn't been as active on social media lately.

"I wanted to get on here and let you guys know that I haven't disappeared. I'm actually a little MIA, but it's for good reason. I've been cooking up a bunch of really cool things for 2021, and I think you guys are going to be really excited," he said. "I appreciate your patience. I appreciate your love and support."

In late November, NBC claimed that Ryan was asked to leave the competition for not obeying the show's "strict COVID protocols." On Instagram, Ryan told his followers that he "didn't drop out of the show" and promised that he would share more details later on.

Since then, Ryan has not shared his side of the story, but his manager, Michael Catalano, denied the network's claims and told Entertainment Tonight that at "an appropriate time and place of our choosing" they'd share "the balance of details."

Meanwhile, Ryan did appear on Tuesday night's season finale when the show aired a pre-recorded performance of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" featuring all of the top 20 contestants.
